The Implication of Sorrow

I think we ought to talk over together, going into it rather deeply, the implication of sorrow, so as to find out for ourselves whether sorrow and love can exist together. And also what is our relationship to the sorrow of mankind? - not only to our own personal daily grief, hurt, pain, and the sorrow that comes with death.

मुझे लगता है कि हम सब साथ मिलकर दुख के अभिप्राय पर, इसके निहिताथों पर चर्चा करें, इसमें गहराई से पैठें ताकि हम स्वयं पता लगा सकें कि क्या दुख और प्रेम एक साथ रह सकते हैं | और इस बात का भी पता लगाएं कि मनुष्य जाति के दुख के साथ हमारा क्या रिश्ता है? -- केवल हमारे अपने दिन-प्रतिदिन के निजी शोक, पीड़ा तथा मृत्यु से जुड़े दुख के साथ ही नहीं |

Religion

We have talked about the complex problem of existence, about the forming of images in our relationships with each other and the images which thought projects and which we worship. We have talked about fear, pleasure and the ending of sorrow and the question of what love is, apart from all the travail that is involved in so-called love. We have talked about compassion with its intelligence and about death. We ought now to talk about religion.

अस्तित्व की जटिल समस्या के बारे में हमने बात की, अपने आपसी रिश्तों में छवियों के निर्माण को लेकर चर्चा की और इस बारे में भी बात की कि कैसे विचार इन्हें प्रक्षेपित किया करता है और हम इन प्रतिमाओं को, इन छवियों को पूजा करते हैं | हमने चर्चा की भय के, सुख के बारे में, दुख के अंत के विषय में और इस प्रश्न को लेकर भी कि प्रेम क्या है | उस तमाम दुख-दर्द के अलावा जो तथाकथित प्रेम में देखने को मिलता है | हमने करुणा की तथा उसके साथ आने वाली प्रज्ञा की और मृत्यु के विषय में भी बात की | अब धर्म के बारे में विचार-विमर्श करना हमारे लिए उचित होगा |
